Prime minister Sheikh Hasina

Bangladesh Prime minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the much-anticipated 6.15km Padma Multipurpose Bridge on Saturday (June 25).

The prime minister unveiled the inauguration plaque of the bridge for vehicular movement around 12 noon at Mawa point.

Sheikh Hasina congratulated the people of the country on the occasion of the inauguration of the bridge.

The PM said the Padma Bridge is not a structure of brick, stone and concrete but it is symbol dignity, pride and bravery of the Nation.

She made the remarks in her speech at the inauguration of the much-dreamed Padma Bridge this morning.

The premier said: “We have been able to construct the bridge dismantling network of conspiracies. It is not brick, steel and concrete. It is our pride. It is associated with our determination, bravery and challenge.  Construction was delayed due to conspiracies. The 42 spans of the bridge bear testimony of the glory of Bengali Nation."

"Historically, we do not bow down to anybody. Bangabandhu standing on the gallows chanted the song of independence of Bangladesh,” she added.
