A man was killed in a mob lynching following an allegation of rape in the Khanpur area of Narayanganj city.
The incident occurred on Monday (October 20) at around 3:00 PM in the Khanpur Jora Tanki area of the city.
The deceased was identified as Md. Hanif (30). He was employed as a security guard at Building Jitu Villa in the Lalpur area.
It is reported that after the lynching, locals took him to Khanpur Hospital, where the doctor advised transferring him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). However, as none of his relatives were present, he was admitted there. Later, he died at the hospital around 8:00 PM that night.
Dr. Shahadat, the duty doctor at Khanpur Hospital, stated that a few young men brought him in in a critical condition at approximately 3:00 PM. He had injuries on his hands and feet. When told to take him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the unknown youths fled. The police were immediately informed, but no one came from there. His family members arrived at 6:00 PM, and he passed away at 8:00 PM.
