Traffic Police Constable Arrested for Raping Child in Bandar, Narayanganj

Police have arrested a traffic police constable on charges of raping a 12-year-old domestic worker in the Bandar upazila of Narayanganj.

​The incident occurred on Monday (October 20) in the Rupali Jannat Mosque Lane area of Bandar Upazila. A case has been filed at the police station by the victim's uncle, Md. Nannu Howladar (38).
​The arrested accused is Md. Ruhul Amin (41), son of Md. Sheikh Sadi, from Tongibari police station in Munshiganj district.

​It is reported that on the afternoon of October 20, the accused, Ruhul Amin, allegedly misled the child from the Kalabagan area of Dhaka and brought her to the house of Siraj in Rupali Jannat Mosque Lane area of Bandar Upazila, where he forcibly raped her. Later, as the victim was being dropped back in the Kalabagan area at night, she began screaming upon reaching the Two No. Rail Gate area of the city. Local people then gave the accused a mass beating (mob justice) and handed him over to the police. Subsequently, the victim's uncle filed a case at the police station.

​Liaqat Ali, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bandar Police Station, confirmed that a case has been filed and the accused has been arrested in connection with the incident.
