Young Woman’s Hanging Body Recovered from Rented House in Bandar

​Police have recovered the hanging body of a young woman named Sharmin Akhter, 24, from a rented house in the Bandar area of Narayanganj.

​The body was recovered on Saturday (June 13) noon from a semi-concrete rented room owned by one Anwar Hossain in the Muradpur area under Ward No. 27 of Bandar Police Station by the Dhamgarh Outpost Police.

​The deceased was identified as Sharmin Akhter, daughter of Nasir Uddin Miah, hailing from the Jugir Khel area of Bhangura Police Station in Comilla district. She had been living as a tenant in that house in Muradpur for a long time.

​Police suspect the suicide took place sometime between 6:30 AM and 10:30 AM on Saturday.

​"On receiving information from the locals, we reached the rented house around 12:45 PM," said Fazlul Haque, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Dhamgarh Police Outpost. "We found the young woman's body hanging from the ceiling beam with a scarf wrapped around her neck. The body has been sent to the Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy."

​Police further stated that the exact reason behind the suspected suicide could not be known immediately. A police investigation is underway to unearth the mystery, and the process of taking legal action is ongoing at Bandar Police Station.
